Eric Kim

Eric Kim is the Founder of Matter and a 20-year veteran of independent-school education.

He attended Mirman School and Harvard-Westlake — two of Los Angeles's most selective independent schools — and went on to earn a B.A. in Cognitive Science from UCLA.

Eric tutored hundreds of students personally in the first decade of his career and spent the next 10+ years in advisory leadership as Executive Program Director and co-owner of LA Tutors. In that time he has helped 100+ students place into elite independent schools including Harvard-Westlake, Marlborough, Brentwood, Crossroads, Polytechnic, Flintridge Prep, and Campbell Hall.

He has been profiled in Authority Magazine on the future of US education.

Eric founded Matter to bring more accessible, more rigorous, and more transparent test prep to families navigating independent-school admissions in Los Angeles, New York, and across the country.
